What Is DateYou?
DateYou is a fantasy chatting site that allows you to chat, flirt, and befriend users online, which is a great cure for loneliness or boredom. The site is reasonably upfront about being mainly for chatting, but it can be easy to get the impression that you’d be able to meet the people in real life.
This DateYou review’s going to clear up any questions you may have about the site. It will do that by explaining everything from how to create an account to the site's best features to how safe the site is. It will also cover how much it’ll cost to use, the quality of other users’ profiles, and answer FAQs. Check our final thoughts for a verdict on whether you should give Date You.com a shot or move on.

Login Process
Creating your DateYou.com account is easy since the registration block is the first thing you see on the homepage. You have two ways to join: either by connecting your Google account or by using your email address. If you connect your Google account, you’ll need to select the account you want to use, and then you’ll continue with the same process as using your email address.
If you choose to register with your email address, it’ll open a short form for you to complete. This first asks you to create a username and password (which will be your Date You.com login details later), then enter your email address, age, gender, and the gender you’re seeking. You’ll tick the box to accept the Ts and Cs and click Register. And that’s it, easy peasy lemon squeezy.
You’ll be encouraged to verify your email address by clicking on a link that’s emailed to you. If you’re a man, you’ll get 100 DateYou.com free coins for joining and 25 more for verifying your email, but if you’re a woman, you get no free coins for doing either action.
Profile Completion
Profiles on Date You are very simple, but this is common on sites that are more catered to chatting than meeting. Registration only asks for absolute basic information, like your username and age. The site will automatically detect your location, but you can edit that from your profile page. You can also write a little more about yourself in the About Me section but be warned that no contact details or sexually explicit content is allowed.
There are also some shorter facts that you can complete about yourself. These include the usual dating site fare, like your relationship status, body size, education level, languages you speak, and height. It also asks about whether you have kids, whether you smoke, and whether you have a job or not. Near the bottom of the page, you can also enter your birth date, but this won’t be visible publicly.
User Account Quality
Female profiles on the site all have photos and they’re all 9s and 10s, as beautiful as models. This is generally a red flag when there aren’t any ordinary-looking women. Male profiles, on the other hand, all look like real human beings, mostly average-looking with some very handsome men in between.
The site has a fair number of users, although, like many smaller dating sites, most users are near big cities. There’s unfortunately no matching algorithm available, so you have to manually search through profiles to match with people. 90% of female profiles seem to always be online, no matter the time of the day or night, and reply fairly quickly no matter how long it’s been since you last communicated.
Dating Features
Random Chat
A fun feature offered by the DateYou.com app is the option to click on the dice icon to roll the dice and open a random chat with someone new. This is a way to add a little thrill to your chats, by introducing the element of chance. It can also be a way to expand your horizons by chatting with someone that you normally wouldn’t be interested in.
This will open a chat with a random user. If you don’t know what to say, don’t worry – there are pre-typed messages for you to choose from. These are very simplistic – mostly along the lines of “Hi, how are you?”.
Play Slots for Free Coins
Another fun feature available to male users is the slots minigame. You can play at any time for 25 coins a pop. The prizes are, you guessed it, free coins. You can win 5, 10, 20, 50, 100, or the jackpot of 250 coins by getting three in a row. If you get a mismatched set of coins, which is a losing set, you win one more free spin.
You also get one free spin of the slots per day, just by logging on. While this is a nice gesture, we’ve found that 9 times out of 10, the prize is a measly 5 coins. Even when paying 25 coins to spin, we only won 5 coins.
Send a Kiss/Picture/GIF/Virtual Gift in Chat
To make chats more interesting, you can attach more than just words to your messages. Once per day for free, both genders can send a kiss to another user while chatting with them. This is another way to show your chat partner that you like them and are interested in them. After the first free kiss, you can pay 30 coins to send more kisses.
You’re able to attach images to your messages but note that these images must be face pictures only, and any pictures you send will also get added to your profile. This is a strange feature that doesn’t allow you any discretion if you don’t want your face online. There are many guidelines about what photos are acceptable, and if your photo doesn’t comply, it won’t get sent.
You can also send a GIF for 50 coins, as a reaction or an icebreaker. And finally, you can send a virtual gift in the chat. This can be anything from a teddy bear for 60 coins, or a hot fudge sundae for 90 coins, to a golden heart for a whopping 180 coins. This just sends an image of the gift to your chat partner.
Chatting and the Chat Box
You’ll notice that your profile won’t get any attention on the site until you start liking, favoriting, and messaging other users. This is unusual on a chat site, where normally your profile would be inundated with attention before you even start browsing. After liking a few female profiles, we received no less than 9 messages, 10 likes, and 9 profile visits in the next 10 minutes.
You’ll also notice that no matter where you are on the site, mini chat boxes will pop up when you get a new message. This is convenient because you’ll get immediately notified of a reply and can keep conversations flowing. It’s also potentially a strategy to get you to keep spending your coins as fast as possible.
Another factor to mention is that, as a male speaking to females, the messages you’ll receive are strange. When you ask questions, easy questions like “How are you” or “What do you do for work” will be answered, but any more complicated than that and they’ll mostly go unanswered. The replies are vague but always flirty, and any attempt to verify that they’re real will be ignored.
Prices & Costs
Date You operates on a coins system, where you purchase them and every action on the site costs some of them. After joining, men get DateYou.com free coins to test the site.
Coins
Coins can be bought in different packages of various sizes:
Basic Package 100 coins: $4.99
Standard Package 300 coins: $9.99
Bestseller Package 750 coins: $24.99
Platinum Package 1500 coins: $49.99
Full Happiness Package 3000 coins: $99.99
Look out for specials and discounts, and you may be able to avoid ever paying full price for coins: when you first join, for the first 30 minutes you can get a new customer discount of 50% bonus coins with each package. However, if you close that notification, there is a better discount of 100% bonus coins with each package.
So, if you do buy coins, the way to get the best deals is to act disinterested. Close the first offer, or even try to leave the site to get you offers of discounts. Clicking “Logout” may get you an offer of one of the coin packages for half the price. Doing anything that suggests disinterest seems to get you a new offer. It begs the question, why does the site need to use these manipulative tactics to keep you online?
Coins can get depleted quite quickly on the site. This is because coins are mainly used to:
Send messages: 50 coins
Send gifs with your message: 50 coins
Send a kiss in chat: 30 coins
Send pictures: 50 coins
Send virtual gifts to other users: 60-100 coins
How Safe Is DateYou?
Communications and Can You Meet Them?
Unfortunately, most people you chat with on Date You are fictional profiles. The Terms and Conditions state that Date You uses “animators and operators as professional chat partners”. So, they’ve got employees who run the profiles to chat with you. It also states that you won’t be able to meet these users in real life.
They are careful to mention that you can find your ideal “chat partner” on the site’s homepage. The fine print at the bottom of the page explains that a “chat partner” is a virtual profile, who you cannot meet. They also claim that real people run the virtual profiles, but the messages do not look like real people wrote them. This is something that other Date You reviews also mention.
Are Payments Secure?
Another thing that comes up a lot in other dateyou.com reviews is that after buying coins once, people’s cards get charged again or other anomalies on their bank statements. We read the Privacy Policy and it seems reasonably secure. It states that your data is processed to complete the contract, and it may be transferred to third-party service providers to invoice your purchase. It also says that your data will be deleted once the contract is complete.
While that seems secure enough, it may be the third-party service providers who are using your data in less acceptable ways. The Date You Privacy Policy defers to service providers’ Privacy Policy in many places, for example, Google Maps’ Privacy Policy rules over your location information. While this is good where the service provider has effective policies in place, it’s not a great thing where your financial information is concerned.
Profile Verifications
When you join the portal, you’re asked to verify your email address. This confirms that you are, at a minimum, a human being with a working email account. However, there are no other verifications available. You do not verify your age, not even by entering your birth date.
There are also no ways to verify your photo, to confirm that you’re using photos of yourself and not using someone else’s pictures. And finally, other dating sites sometimes give you the option of uploading a picture of your government ID, which would prove that you’re real and genuine and using your own information. Date You has none of these verifications, leaving the site vulnerable to scammers and catfish. Be wary of what information you share with other users.
Final Thoughts
DateYou com is a chat app and clearly states that on its homepage and in the Terms of Use. Although they do mention all these facts, they are very subtle, and it seems the intention is to let you believe that it’s a real dating site, and that’s where most people’s dissatisfaction with the site lies. The site has a few features which include sending kisses, GIFs, or virtual gifts in the chats, and rolling the dice to chat with a random user.
You flirt with others via messages, which cost coins. Coins are relatively inexpensive, but you’ll burn through them at an alarming rate and the price can quickly rack up to be exorbitant. You’ll get the best deal by clicking logout to get half-price offers, or by looking out for “100% bonus coins” offers which are available often. Men have ways to earn coins for free by using the slot machine, but this isn’t offered to women.
As a dating site, the app fails to deliver and would be an extremely disappointing experience with mostly fictional female profiles. As a chat site, it’s about average – the chat operators may be foreign or AI because the messages can be strangely worded. For these reasons, we rate DateYou a solid, middle-of-the-road, 5/10, and suggest giving it a try if you’re financially secure and looking for a chat. If not, there are better and cheaper sites out there.
