What Is TruMingle?
TrueMingle is an online dating site for singles seeking friends, love, or cricket—yes, really, cricket. This site charges anything from $6 for one month to $234.56 for one day. The homepage has a lot of information about the various features, but after extensive testing, many of these features do not exist.
In addition to the features and prices, our TruMingle review will also guide you through the process of setting up your account, completing your profile, and assessing the quality of other profiles on the platform. We'll address common questions and examine the site's safety measures. Finally, we'll offer our concluding thoughts on whether signing up is worthwhile or whether looking for other options is better.
Pros
Very affordable monthly rate.
Mobile number and photo verifications before joining the site.
Easy to use interface.
Cons
Small user-base
No mobile Trumingle dating app is available.
No Terms of Use or Privacy Policy.
Strange prices and grammar on many pages.
The trumingle dating site login is buggy (we couldn't re-enter the site after logging out).
Login Process
The TruMingle signup process takes about 5 minutes but has some strange steps. First, you need to verify your mobile number. You do this by entering your mobile number, doing a captcha to prove you're not a robot, and then entering an OTP that'll be texted to you. Next, you're asked for:
Your name
Email address
Date of birth
Gender
Password
When you click 'Sign Up,' a pop-up will ask you to specify what you're here for, with the options of Friends, Love, or Cricket. What does it mean to join the site for "Cricket"? It's unclear, and we never managed to find out. Perhaps it's a translation error, but it's bizarre. The next step is to open your webcam, and you'll have to take a picture of yourself to progress. Once you're happy with the photo, you'll be prompted to add more images from your device. You can skip this step and do it later.
Next, you'll select your interests from a list with only three options: Books, Movies, and Music. There's a search bar where you can search for other interests, but searching for anything other than Books, Movies, or Music results in an error message. You'll then have to enter your location and click "Join with SiteName."—that's not a typo; that's exactly what the site says.
Profile Completion
Once you've signed up and gone through all the registration steps, your profile will be about 85% complete. However, if you skipped uploading a photo, you'll need to do so to fill that gap. While you can include more interests, you're limited to the three mentioned earlier. Unfortunately, the platform doesn't offer the option to add different interests beyond these choices.
The only remaining steps are to write a short bio in the "About Me" section and enter your job title, the company you work for, and the school you went to. And just like that, voila, you're finished. This is a very simple and short profile compared to most other dating sites and apps.
User Account Quality
We found only 13 other users in a very large city, which is highly unusual and indicates a tiny user base. Most profiles had pictures, although the female profiles looked too good to be true. While the homepage claims to have helped over a million people find love, we're not convinced. About half the male profiles seem legitimate, but the rest, and all the female profiles, don't seem genuine at all.
The homepage also claims to offer compatibility assessments and detailed profiles, which it simply does not provide. It also states that the website has an advanced algorithm that matches users based on age, location, interests, and user preferences. We'd suggest that these are simple filters rather than an advanced matching algorithm.
Dating Features
Likes, Super Likes, and Nopes
When browsing profiles in the Near Me section, you'll see the typical swiping function that most online dating sites have nowadays. You'll be shown one profile at a time, and you can click on the heart/swipe right to like someone or click on the X/Swipe left to skip.
You'll also spot a star icon. Tapping on it will Super-like the profile you're currently viewing, instantly sending them a notification that they've received a Super-Like, potentially boosting your chances of catching their attention. Upon joining, you're given one free use of this feature before being prompted to purchase more.
Search Filters
On Tru Mingle, you can refine your search by adjusting your criteria. You can search by gender preference, selecting from options including men, women, or everyone. Moreover, you can filter users based on their relationship intent, whether friendship, love, or cricket. This ensures you connect with individuals seeking similar relationships, preventing mismatches and saving time for those seeking love from engaging with someone who is only interested in friendships.
You can further narrow your search by adjusting the automatically set age range, which is set to show you matches between 18 and 90. You can also change the distance range, which is set to display people within 100km of your city. Finally, you can change your location to search for matches in another part of the country/continent/world. However, changing location is reserved for premium users.
Chat
If you and another user swipe right or like each other, you'll match. Once you've matched, you can start chatting in the chat section. This is a great way to get to know them before planning to meet in person. Only allowing matches to communicate is also a great way to protect users from unwanted attention.
In the chat feature, you can also include emojis or attach photos to your messages. This helps add interest to the conversation and can be a way to verify if the person you're talking to is real. The True Mingle homepage mentions that there are also forums to chat on, but this doesn't seem to exist.
Prices & Costs
The Trumingle dating site is free to use, but premium comes with some extra nice-to-have features. Various premium packages are available, some quite similar but priced differently, with perks that may not always correspond to the cost. You can also purchase extra Super Likes and Boosts.
Premium
There's seemingly one kind of premium with the same perks, except different packages with a different number of Super Likes included. The perks that are the same are:
1 Free Boost.
You can change your location and swipe in different cities.
Unlimited number of likes per day.
Rewind if you accidentally swipe 'Nope' on someone you would've liked.
See your Visitors and Likes You lists.
There is no rhyme or reason for the prices of the various kinds of premiums available. Still, they're available for different periods and with a different number of Super Likes included:
1 Day + 2 Super Likes: $234.56
10 Days + 1 Super Like: $100
30 Days + 0 Super Likes: $5.99
30 Days + 20 Super Likes: $9.99
It's unclear if a subscription will automatically renew at the end of the time allocated since there's no indication on the payment page or in the Terms of Service.
Note: Card payment is the only way to pay for your purchases.
Super Likes
If you spot someone you're really interested in, you can Superlike them instead of just 'liking' them to indicate your special interest. You'll be able to use this once with a free account, but if you spot a second person, you'll need to buy more Super Likes. The weird pricing structure continues with this feature:
3 Super Likes: $50
2 Super Likes: $345.6
Boosts
Boosting will make you the top profile in your area for 30 minutes. This will get your profile viewed by more people and can get you more likes and matches. You get 1 free use of the Boost feature, after which you can buy more. Boosts are very expensive, and cost:
5 Boosts: $100
1 Boost: $456.1
How Safe Is TruMingle.com?
No Terms of Service or Privacy Policy
There are no Terms of Service or Privacy Policy to consult—that section of the website says "content here…" which adds to the impression that the site was created by someone looking to make a dating site but abandoned halfway through. There's frankly no way of knowing what will be done with your photos or mobile number shared during registration if there's third-party involvement or the extent of such involvement.
For these reasons, we recommend not posting personal information or adding photos to the site.
Safety Tips and Changes
Another feature mentioned on the home page is some Safety Tips for online dating. After searching the site, we found it in their Help section. Unfortunately, the heading does not contain any content; this was just another place where it said, "content here…"
Another interesting heading in the Help section is Changes. This heading's content says, "CHANGES ENGLISH CONTENT 123…" The website is also available in French, but the French version of this page says, "CHANGES FRENCH CONTENT 123…." This seems to suggest that there's a full version of the site that has yet to be translated, but the only language options are English and French.
Final Thoughts
The Trumingle app was an interesting experience. It exists in an online uncanny valley, which looks like a dating site, but something is totally off. It feels like a dating platform that was created and abandoned, but more than that, it feels like it was created by someone or something that has a general idea of a dating site but isn't sure how to execute it. Perhaps it's been created by AI?
True Mingle has all the usual features of a dating site, including swiping through profiles to match and then being able to chat. It's got Super Likes and Boosts, and you can pay a premium subscription. To put it lightly, the site's prices are erratic and nonsensical. Beware of accidentally logging out because you won't be able to log back in. There are no Terms of Use or Privacy Policy, which sets off some alarm bells.
Frankly, we'd recommend avoiding Tru Mingle. Whether you're looking for a casual date or something serious, this site isn't good for either. Perhaps it's still a work in progress, and it could be a better site in the future. But for now, much like it's safer not to play in construction sites, it's safer to avoid TruMingle.com.
FAQ
Is Trumingle legit?
No, it doesn't seem to be. While a few of the profiles may be real, the site lacks any terms and conditions, which is very suspicious.
Is TruMingle login free?
Yes. You can create your account for free, and logging in is theoretically free, too. However, our test profiles couldn't log back in after logging out.
How much does TrueMingle cost?
Premium features cost from $5.99 to $456.10. For a detailed breakdown, see the Prices & Costs section above.
Where do I get the Trumingle app download?
The homepage claims you can download the app on Google Play or the App Store, but clicking those links just opens the App Store home pages; it doesn't link to a Trumingle dating app. It seems to only be available as a Web App.
Is Tru Mingle a scam?
It may be. Many other Trumingle reviews state emphatically that it is a scam. We'd recommend not adding any card payment details to this site, and your chances of meeting anyone in real life are low.
