Login Process
You can join the My Local Crush website either by connecting your Google account or by email address, it only takes 5 minutes. If you go the Google route, you simply pick which account you’d like to use and complete the rest of the registration form, but you won’t need to verify your email address.
If you do it via email address, you’ll need to complete the whole form on the homepage. This form asks for the following information:

The About Me section has a field for you to write a little about yourself, and there’s no minimum or maximum character limit here so write as much as you want.
Finally, you can complete your Personal information. This section has the usual questions dating profiles ask:

Lastly, it also asks what mode of transportation you use. This is a rare question, we’ve only seen it on a few dating sites, but it’s an interesting tidbit. You can choose between walking, a car, rideshare, or some form of motorcycle or scooter. After answering all that, your profile will be complete.
User Account Quality
The Members tab tells you how many users fit your search criteria, and seemingly the site has a good number of female profiles because one tester had a list of almost 4,000 members. However, the results are always in the exact same order, meaning you’ll see the same faces over and over, and to find someone new you’ll need to go deeper into the search results. And, disappointingly, there are zero male profiles on the site. No matter what age range or location you set, there are no men to be found.
Most users have pictures and the vast majority have their About Me section filled in. This is ordinarily a good sign, but every single one of the 90+ profiles we viewed had the heart icon that indicates it’s fictional. So, while there are many women for you to chat with, these accounts are all run by the site, and you cannot meet them in real life.

When you create your account, you’ll enter your preferences for the gender of your match. Your age range on the search tab will automatically be set to 5 years younger than you to 5 years older than you, naturally with the minimum age being 18. You can edit either of those details, and additionally refine your search based on:

This can help you find your perfect match but remember being too picky can narrow down your options. There’s no advanced search feature, so you can’t narrow down your criteria any more.
Send A Message
You’re not going to get anywhere without talking to other people on dating sites, and on My Local Crush you can do this by writing a message to them from their profile. You’ll need to buy credits to use this feature. You can include emojis or even attach a photo, but you’re limited to 700 characters per message. However, remember that since the profiles are mostly fictional, chatting is all you can do, so you won’t be able to make plans to meet other members.
Wish List
As you browse through the site, you can add members that you like to your Wishlist. This list keeps track of everyone you’ve added so you can easily find them again rather than searching through the full members list each time. They’ll also get a notification that you’ve added them, informing them that you’re attracted to them which could pique their interest in you too!
Photo Moderation
When you add a photo to your profile, it needs to get approved before it’ll be visible. This takes a few hours, unlike other sites where it gets approved in minutes. Photo moderation is usually a good way to ensure that people aren’t adding inappropriate pictures to their profiles, but it can be annoying to wait so long for your photo to be visible.

There used to be a feature called Flirts, which were prewritten messages that you could send to other users with a free profile. Any flirts you received would get added to your My Flirts list. How Safe Is MyLocalCrush?
Fictional Profiles
The site is quite open about the fact that it uses fictional profiles, you’ll find it in the fine print on the home and credits page, and by hovering over the heart icon that you’ll find on most members’ pages. It’s explicitly stated when you accept the terms and conditions during registration. And you’ll also see it’s mentioned multiple times in the Terms of Use and Privacy Policy.
A more careful reading of the Terms reveals that the fictional accounts are “the only profiles visible to users on our platform”, so even if there are real people, you won’t be able to find or interact with them. So, every profile that you’ll see is run by an operator.
Personal Information
Your personal information is sometimes shared with third parties, like IT developers, the performers you chat with, and moderators. However, they state that they take reasonable steps to ensure that your info is kept safe and only used for their stated purpose, which is to entertain you. However, note that some other MyLocalCrush reviews online state that their credit card details may have been stolen or shared from the site, so be cautious.
You may find it strange that there are no privacy or security settings, but this is because users cannot see the profiles of other real people – everyone who signs up can only see the fictional accounts. So, in that way, your personal information is kept safe from other site users.
No Report Or Block Feature
99% of online dating sites allow you to report other users or block them if you want to cut off contact, but My Local Crush doesn’t have this option. Since all the profiles are run by operators, they won’t be rude or abusive towards you, so you presumably won’t need to block or report anyone. However, it’s an odd omission, because there may be a situation in which you’d want to block your chat partner, for example, you’ve lost interest, or they’ve upset you in some way.

MyLocalCrush.com is your run-of-the-mill fantasy chatting site, masquerading as a dating site. It is easy to be misled by the profiles, which is why you need to be careful to always read the fine print. There are several thousand users to chat to, but they are exclusively female, there are no male users at all. And all the profiles that you can see are run by entertainers, meaning you’ll never physically meet them.
The credits to send messages are very expensive at $2 a pop, and although it gets cheaper when you buy bigger packages, you need to shell out a whole $300 to get the cost down to $1/message. There are some smaller, cheaper packages available to tempt you, but these are only available for your first purchase, after which you’ll need to pay the normal prices.
There are no fun features apart from messaging other users, which is disappointing. My Local Crush is only a good option if you’re looking to chat, and your budget can handle the cost of credits. If you’re on a budget, or if you’re looking to meet people IRL, you may want to keep looking. There are cheaper chat sites and many real dating and hookup sites out there.
